Box Elder is a city located in Pennington County, South Dakota, United States. It is a suburb of Rapid City and is home to Ellsworth Air Force Base. Box Elder has a population of approximately 10,000 people. The city is served by the Douglas School District, with two elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school.
